The Holland Group, which includes The Angel – Taste of Devon Restaurant, Platform 1 Champagne Bar & Restaurant, Holland Leisure Retail and Dartside Holiday apartments, have a new senior management team. Based in Dartmouth, the group has recently appointed James Pike as Group General Manager, Csaba Adamy as Operations Manager, and Head Chef of the Angel-Taste of Devon, Elly Wentworth, is promoted to Executive Chef for the group.

This new management structure will ensure the longevity as well as further growth of an already successful group of businesses located in one of the most famous and picturesque parts of Devon.

In 2023, the newly formed senior team will be working collectively on creating a new brand for the Platform 1 site, a historical gem and previously a Great Western Railway ticket office. The site will be transformed into an all-day dining bistro that will be a destination venue, with a fantastic bar and quality takeaway offering in a particularly busy location on Dartmouth Harbour. They plan to strengthen the legacy started by pioneering chef Joyce Molyneaux by further developing The Angel – Taste of Devon working collectively towards gaining a Michelin star. There are also exciting plans to elevate the current 16 waterside apartments and further enhance the Holland Leisure retail site which arguably has the most prominent retail space in Dartmouth. ‘We are incredibly grateful that we have the keys to a group of wonderfully located businesses that owners John and Bessie Holland had worked incredibly hard to build over a number of years. With a sensitive approach to their legacy, we are committed to developing this group of businesses which are both literally and metaphorically at the heart of this super community’ says James Pike.

James who will now head the group is a senior hospitality operator specialising in multi-faceted businesses. Previously an Ace Robyn winner as well as being shortlisted for a ‘Catey’, he has worked for many high-profile businesses including hospitality & events specialist Green and Fortune where he played a key role in significant business growth across multiple high profile London venues, as part of their senior team.

To maximise the quality of the premium sites, a new role of Operations Manager has been created for the talented Csaba Adamy. Csaba, a trained sommelier has an illustrious hospitality background including 2 Michelin starred L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon as well as working with celebrated chefs Mitch Tonks at his Seahorse restaurant in Dartmouth and Michelin starred chef John Burton Race at The New Angel Notting Hill. Csaba has a clear work ethic to provide memorable experiences and a determination to create industry leading hospitality for guests and employees alike.

Head Chef of the Angel, Elly has honed her craft in this historic restaurant since 2018. She is arguably one of the most skilled female chefs in the UK right now, her huge personality brimming with humour and charm. Previously she has been a finalist in the acclaimed TV series Masterchef the Professionals, and twice a competitor on Great British Menu. Elly was also a winner of a Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Awards of Excellence. She continues to serve up exquisitely presented dishes using sustainable and locally sourced produce. Elly now takes on Executive Chef for the group to transfer her incredible food skills and ideas for the best cuisines across the exciting portfolio of businesses.

Charge up!

The Holland Group are first to install electric car chargers in Dartmouth

The Holland Group are delighted to have installed the first publicly available car chargers in Dartmouth at Dartside Court in Clarence Street TQ6 9NW. Check out the location in the brilliant navigation app What3Words: perch.whizzing.pure

These fast Chargers are situated in a covered area under our holiday apartments. There are two chargers in separate bays and fully signed from the road.

With the electric vehicle disruption (EV) well underway now, people have been wondering how long they will have to wait for public chargers to be installed in the town. You don’t have to wait any longer!

Not everyone in Dartmouth has off-street parking for charging an EV and so public chargers are essential. We hope our new installation will encourage residents without the capability of off-street charging at home to now consider getting an EV for the first time.

Although this is new technology to everyone it is rapidly becoming popular. The Holland Group are investing in this new technology to encourage more local people to drive electric and to attract EV-owning visitors to come and stay in the town.

Although the process for ‘refuelling’ EVs by charging their batteries is new for everyone and may seem a bit confusing, it is very similar to charging your smartphone. There are clear instructions at the charge bays and 24/7 support by phone or online. There is also a contact number for the local company EVC in case you have any questions!

One last thing we would like please is your feedback. Please let us know how you are getting on and any problems you may have encountered. Use the number or email below.

If you are interested in getting an EV or finding out how to use a public charger, EVC can help.
